In 2018, films have addressed many socially impactful topics, like mental health and addiction, and the struggles people face in their day to day lives. For example, Love, Simon is a seventeen year old boy’s journey coming out of the closet. Searching is a story of a father tracing his daughter’s digital footprints after she goes missing. The movie Private Life talks about a couple that faces struggle with infertility and their journey through the world of adoption and assisted reproduction. Unsane is a story about a young woman that is involuntarily committed to a mental institution where she is confronted by her greatest fear.
