10 Most Socially Relevant Feature Films (Global)

In 2018, films have addressed many socially impactful topics, like mental health and addiction, and the struggles people face in their day to day lives. For example, Love, Simon is a seventeen year old boy’s journey coming out of the closet. Searching is a story of a father tracing his daughter’s digital footprints after she goes missing. The movie Private Life talks about a couple that faces struggle with infertility and their journey through the world of adoption and assisted reproduction. Unsane is a story about a young woman that is involuntarily committed to a mental institution where she is confronted by her greatest fear. These stories have touched the hearts of many and are emblematic of an evolving sensibility in the world of cinema.
